general cover: aditional lighting designs

This is my lighting design for a thrust theatre performance, I done a general cover to show how the lighting plan would work differently in comparison to other stages.
This is my lighting design for a traverse stage, this is to be done differently as you have to consider the audience seating as if you was to do the lighting as usual could effect the audiences view.
This is my general cover lighting design for an in the round staging. In this one you have to consider that the audience is surrounding the stage so there would have to be light hitting every angle, in order to do this you use a technique called triangulation.
This is my general cover for proscenium arch, this is where the audience is infront of the staging so all the lighting is to be 180 general cover faceing the stage.

Lighting comparisons research

Retail lighting

Ted baker

The lights they used in ted baker were just generic lighting, and a lot of pin spots. There were a lot of ceiling lamps with bulbs. The atmosphere created was a very sophisticated feel. They used rich colours such as red which represented passion and wealth, they used other rich colours such as deep blues. There was hanging bulbs around the shop in glass lanterns which were joined up around the shop by string.

All saints

no general lighting, they used a lot of fresnels and a lot of pin spots around the shop. All saints had a rustic feel to it and was very classic. It had use of neutral colours such as black white and grey which suggests an old vintage feel. they had special effect things like chains down the walls and sewing machines around the shop and all stacked up in the window.

foot asylum

This shop had generic lighting and had a lot of florescent light bulbs. They used a lot of vibrant bright colours which shown a youthful vibe. They had a very welcoming positive atmosphere. There were also bayonets in wooden pallets which were different and effective and bulbs were around the shop and a lot of bright strip lights were hanging.

Selfridges

In Selfridges it was like a film set lighting. They used a lot of open white and pin spots. On each different part of the shop the used a backlight so that would be the centre of attention. Near the beauty section it was just bright white lighting which gave a pure and clean feeling. In the men’s section it was quite dark and cool and quite rustic. Over near the women’s section it was very bright and colourful in contrast. They used neon tubes to hang some clothes off which I thought was a very clever idea to catch the costumers attention as it is a competitive shop.

Apple

In apple it was very bright white generic lighting. They also used light boxes around the shop. It was very modern and gave a futuristic feel; it was very minimal but updated. This was a massive contrast to all of the other shops we had been in.

Lighting plan and socket numbers

This is the rig and lighting plan of the drama studio where I have set up my lighting. I would need this to do all my planning on as I would need to know where to put all my lights when rigging considering which plug sockets you will use.
